Activation
Five steps to activate
Your licence key is the string Creem emailed you. Activation needs a network connection for that one moment — after that it works fully offline.
Open FaceNest
Double-click
FaceNest.exe.Click "Settings" at the bottom left
It is the last item in the left-hand navigation.
Find the "Licence & quota" card
The card shows your current edition (free or Pro) and your quota usage.
Paste the licence key
Copy the whole key from the email and paste it into the field. Watch out for stray spaces.
Click "Activate"
On success it shows Pro (activated) and the real end date of your subscription.
After activation
It checks in automatically
A subscription checks in with the licence server at least every 45 days. It is fully automatic — you never have to do anything. About 8 times a year.
The date shown is your real end date
The settings page shows the date your subscription actually ends — not some technical token lifetime.
Offline the rest of the time
Faces, tags, albums and semantic search all run locally. Pull the network cable and they still work.
When activation goes wrong
I cannot find the licence key in my email
Check your spam and promotions folders, and search the mailbox for Creem.
Still nothing? Log in to the Creem customer portal with your payment email to see the order, or email support@facenest.net with the address you paid with.
Does activation need the internet?
For that one moment, yes. After that it works fully offline. A subscription then checks in automatically every 45 days, and there is a 14-day grace period after expiry during which everything keeps working.
I switched computers
Click "Unbind this PC" on the old machine first, then activate on the new one with the same key. You can self-unbind once every 90 days, and you can have 2 devices.
It says the device limit is reached
That means 2 devices are already activated. Unbind one of them from the old machine, or email us and we will sort it out.
Will my photos be locked when it expires?
No. Expiry only drops you back to the free tier: library capped at 100 photos and semantic search switched off. Your existing photos, faces, tags and albums remain searchable — not a single file is deleted.
Why does the app say "expiring soon"?
That is a reminder, not a restriction. Click "Renew" and you are done — and even if you miss it, there is a 14-day grace period.
How do I renew, or cancel?
Renewal is automatic through Creem and your benefits roll over. To cancel, log in to the Creem customer portal with your payment email and go to "Manage Subscription" → "Cancel Subscription".
What does "online licence re-check required" mean?
A subscription needs to check in at least every 45 days. If it has been offline for longer, Pro features are paused; reconnecting restores them automatically. Your photos and index are never deleted, and you do not have to buy anything again.
